Cable assemblies and wires – Import and Export

A cable consists of one or more insulated wires of electrically conductive material. There are power cables to transmit energy and data cables to transmit information. The purpose of the cable determines its properties, e.g. the number of wires, if they are twisted, thickness, insulation/coating incl. color and material. Cables without insulation are called wires or stranded wires.

Cables are supplied ready for further processing or ready-made for the particular application, i.e., they are provided with plugs when required or prefabricated as harnesses.
